Root canal treatment in Casablanca: saving the tooth

Keeping the natural tooth rather than extracting it

When the inner part of the tooth (the pulp) is infected or necrotic, root canal treatment makes it possible to keep the natural tooth. At Casa Anoual Dental Clinic, it is carried out under local anaesthesia by Dr Zniber Mounir.

Our treatments

Clean, disinfect, seal

The goal: remove the infected tissue inside the tooth, then seal the canals tightly to prevent recurrence.

01

Initial root canal treatment

Cleaning and filling the canals of a tooth whose pulp is infected or irreversibly damaged.

02

Retreatment

Redoing an existing treatment when the infection persists or returns.

03

Bioceramic materials

Modern sealing cements, for a better seal and good biocompatibility.

How it works

The steps of root canal treatment

The tooth is numbed locally throughout the treatment.

01

Diagnosis and X-ray

Assessment of the condition of the pulp and the extent of the infection (imaging at the clinic).

02

Opening and cleaning

Removal of the infected tissue inside the tooth with specific instruments.

03

Disinfection

Irrigation of the canals to remove remaining bacteria.

04

Filling

Tight sealing of the canals, often with bioceramic cements.

05

Restoring the tooth

Rebuilding with composite or a crown depending on the remaining tooth tissue.

After the root canal, protect the tooth

A root-treated tooth becomes more fragile. When little tooth tissue remains, a crown is often recommended to prevent fracture.

Frequently asked questions

Root canal treatment: your questions

Is root canal treatment painful?

The treatment is carried out under local anaesthesia and is no more uncomfortable than standard dental care. Slight sensitivity may persist for a few days afterwards.

Can a tooth that has already been treated be retreated?

Yes, retreatment is possible if the infection persists or returns, by redoing the filling of the canals.

Is a crown always needed after root canal treatment?

It depends on how much tooth tissue remains. A very weakened tooth is often protected by a crown to prevent fracture.

How many sessions are needed?

Depending on the tooth and the extent of the infection, treatment is done in one or several sessions. You are told the number after the diagnosis.
